Less to Lose with Health Improvements* Category

Delores S.

* I have had back surgery and a heart attack and I also have lots of problems with vertigo (BPPV).

I have never been particularly over weight. But at age 66 I was not pleased with my midsection and I wanted to be more fit and toned. I did not care if I lost pounds as much as I definitely wanted to lose inches in the waist and abdomen. I had thought that was impossible for someone my age but I was encouraged that maybe I could do it with T-Tapp. I have watched my friend Charlotte lose inches and weight for the past year. Last year she was a T-Tapp category winner in More to Lose using mixed workouts. She has lost around 100 pounds this past year and I know that it works.

I started T-Tapping on February 26. On March 5th I became ill with vertigo and had to stop. I have suffered with BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), which is an inner ear problem that causes dizziness and vertigo, since 1969. My bouts of vertigo were short when they first started but in the past ten years they sometimes last for 2 to 3 months. I retired from teaching third grade 6 years ago because of my vertigo problems. I was still ill with vertigo when the contest started on April 11 and I was so disappointed. I was still confined to my home but I was better. I thought I would go ahead and enter the contest. I was doing habitation exercises to decrease my vertigo and I thought I would also do what I could with the T-Tapp. I would do Basis Workout Plus and or the SATI to the best of my ability. I need to keep my head up and cannot put my head below my waist on the exercises. I have to be careful how I hold my head because certain positions can trigger my vertigo. After one week I had lost only ¼ of an inch. I decided to continue and hoped I would soon be well. By May 5th I was well and I could finally do the workouts more vigorously. I receive T-Tapp Broom on May 22. Since I was feeling well I did a 14-day boot camp and I have worked out almost every day since using some combination of BW+, SATI and Broom.

In addition to my vertigo problem, I had back surgery at 36, a heart attack at 53, thyroid problems and osteoporosis. To help with my back pain I taught water aerobics at the YMCA 3 times a week for 12 years. I had to stop teaching water aerobics because of my long bouts with vertigo. I have been walking outside or on my treadmill since I stopped teaching water aerobics. I have wanted an exercise that would be beneficial for all of my health problems. T-Tapp does that for me. I get the aerobics for my heart and it is weight bearing so it helps with my osteoporosis. It also is helpful with my balance. Since I have vertigo I have learned to balance using my eyes and my body. When I have good muscle tone in my legs and at the core, it helps my balance and my back also. I can now get up out of the floor without crawling to a chair to stand up. I am much more flexible and I am sleeping better. I can hold in my stomach again and my posture is much better. I feel more toned and tightened and more confident in how I look in my clothes. I also like it because it doesn’t take any special equipment and I can do it at home even when I do not feel well. I have lost inches and I did not have to change my eating habits. As an extra bonus, I was not sore after I did yard work.

I would like to win so I can show other ladies that you are never too old to improve your shape and health also. I wonder how good I can look in a year and a half on my 50th wedding anniversary. I would like to meet Teresa Tapp and her team and learn as much as I can from them. I feel I am already a winner since I am improving my health and I have lost 4 pounds and 8.50 inches. I am on my way to being fit and fabulous and active at 66.
