*Health Improvement: Pre-Menopausal hormone-related symptoms including depression, unexplained crying, racing heart and headaches.
I am not a very athletic person, but I have always been very health-conscious, spending time researching the best ways to feed my children or which vitamins and minerals help with various health conditions. I am almost never sick, and I have never been severely overweight. So when I had a sudden, dramatic decline in my health in April, I was surprised and scared. Out of the blue, at age 42, I experienced a slew of pre-menopausal symptoms rushing at me simultaneously.
The most frightening symptom was that my heart was racing as if I had constant anxiety, a symptom which I had never experienced before in my life. In addition to that, I had gained some weight and, unlike in the past, it was not easy to lose it by simply cutting back a little on my food intake. Careful eating resulted in no weight loss this time.
I made an appointment with my doctor to check out the racing heart problem and started asking my friends what to do about the weight gain, depression, headaches and other symptoms. My friend Christina, who won the 60-Day Challenge in 2007, piqued my curiosity by saying that many women were able to control their pre-menopausal symptoms just by doing T-Tapp. A year earlier, I had purchased the 15 minute Basic Workout Plus and had been pleased to lose inches pretty quickly with minimal time commitment, but I had not kept it up. Now I reasoned that if a 15 minute exercise routine had worked so well, I should buy the second half of the DVD so I could try the Total Workout!
As soon as the Total Workout arrived in the mail, I began a 7 day bootcamp as described in the instructions. Meanwhile, Christina asked me if I was going to join the 60-Day Challenge. I had not known the Challenge was coming up, but after having lost 7 inches in the first 3 weeks of T-Tapping, I knew it would provide just the right motivation for me to continue seeing progress. I joined the Challenge.
My doctor confirmed that the racing heart was a hormonal symptom and ordered extensive blood tests. I kept T-Tapping. My husband took me on my first-ever trip to California to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and I T-Tapped every second or third day in our tiny hotel room. After our trip, I measured again and found I had now lost a total of 13.25 inches. All this time, I had not really lost much weight, but I was not disappointed since I knew this meant I was building muscle, which was pretty exciting for this non-athlete. I hardly dared to believe it, but slowly I was also noticing that every pre-menopausal symptom was disappearing! No more headaches, racing heart, depression, or unexplained crying. For the first time in years, I had almost no PMS or cramping during my cycle.
Excited, I went back to the doctor and told him my symptoms had disappeared. He asked me what I credited with this change. I told him that I had improved my diet but that the main reason was an exercise program I was doing called T-Tapp and that I had, in fact, lost over 17 inches since starting it 8 weeks earlier. Pleased by what he had heard so far, he then informed me that the results from my recent blood tests showed a noticeable decrease in blood sugar and cholesterol levels. I was thrilled to see this progress.
Near the end of the Challenge, I had one major setback, but even this was a blessing in disguise. After quite a few days of travel, I developed vertigo and was unable to T-Tapp for most of the last two weeks of the Challenge since I experienced extreme dizziness anytime I turned my head even a little bit sideways, up or down. I was very upset not only because I couldn’t exercise and “finish strong” but also because I didn’t want to lose ground on all the health improvements that I had experienced. Now that the Challenge is over, and I am well enough to begin short T-Tapp sessions again, I see one good thing that came out of the time I couldn’t Tapp: I value exercising more than ever before because I found out I don’t feel as good when I am not doing it. Instead of being tempted to stop exercising now that I don’t have the motivation of a Challenge before me, I know I will continue to T-Tapp to reach my ideal body size and to maintain the health benefits that come with it.
I have been thrilled to lose almost 17 inches during the 60-Day Challenge (and almost 24 inches altogether since I started Tapping in April). As a result of doing Organs in Place, my “twin skin” tummy is noticeably shrinking for the first time since giving birth to my girls 9 years ago. It is also exciting that other people have noticed my progress and new energy. My husband observed the steady inch loss, and now he has been doing the Basic Workout regularly. I saw my Mom in early July and she immediately noticed the difference in my shape, commenting that now I walk with a straighter, more centered posture than before. After seeing Berei working out on the Total Workout DVD, my mom was inspired by how doable T-Tapp is for an older person. Now she has purchased this DVD and is planning to learn how to T-Tapp herself.
I wish I had known about T-Tapp when I was younger, but it is never too late to get healthy. For me, it happened just in time to feel hopeful again about my body, my health and my future. Thank you, Teresa, for this wonderful exercise program.
