60 Day Challenge
Winner: More to Lose Category

Anne Montgomery

On July 5th, I faced the horror of having my husband take a photograph of me in a bathing suit. I actually had to wake him up later in the night when I discovered the contest required three different poses. Was I crazy for doing this? Was this contest really going to change anything?

My weight struggle began as a freshman in college. Even though I was an active basketball player, in the off-season I would pack on the pounds due to poor eating habits and inactivity. Each season I would return to a normal weight due to the intense activity my body was under six days a week. After college, I married my college sweetheart, became a desk jockey (accountant) and continued my poor eating habits. What I didn't continue was my intense activity that college basketball required. I thought dieting was the answer and I began several different kinds, Weight Watchers, Cabbage Soup diet, Atkins Diet, Carb Addicts Diet and some more that I started and stopped along the way. I dabbled with aerobics, walking and Norda Trac. Of course the pounds kept piling on especially after delivering my two precious daughters in 2 ½ years.

I am one of million - I guess that was always on the lookout for the latest, greatest fad that would end my weight worries for good. Women's World caught my attention each weekend at the grocery store. Sometimes I would realize the proposed weight loss solution was too good to be true and passed on purchasing the magazine. Fortunately, I didn't pass on the January 13, 2004 issue. My husband and I had just made a pact with each other to work on getting healthier and part of the pact was to exercise with each other 5-6 days a week usually in the wee hours of the morning before work and while the kids were still asleep. Our routine consisted of Bow Flex and Norda Trac combined workouts. I started working in the exercises from the magazine. I went on to the website where I placed my order and began T-Tapping in February 2003. It took weeks for me to get through Instructional Tape 1. I told my husband once that I had made a mistake because I would never be able to work through Instructional Tape 2. It took a month or so before I could complete my first and only 14 day Beginner/ Rehab bootcamp. I continued tapping every other day with consistency. I did mess up by not measuring from the beginning. After being a slave to the scale, I was afraid that I would be the same way with a tape measure. As my husband encouraged me, "you are doing something good for your body, that fact that you are doing it is results enough." He was right (I picked a good one by the way), I had stuck with T-Tapp for longer than any diet or exercise program (except for 12+ years of basketball). I was getting stronger and setting a good example for my daughters. What could be better than that?

The thought of the contest intimidated me at first. The excitement that the contest generated on the forums encouraged me to give it a try. Besides there were women out there just like me who were donning on their bathing suits in an effort to improve them. I meet up with some wonderful T-Tappers on the Contest Challenge thread who along with my husband helped me stay the course to complete the contest. The daily check-ins and positive advice and encouragement helped me make T-Tapp a way of life. That was my goal after all. I worked in a few 4 day bootcamps with my contest purchases of Tempo Torso and the MORE Series. I mainly focused on getting in a full body workout 2-3 days a week and relied on Basic Workout Plus for my off days and when I was pushed for time. I made no changes in my eating habits except for focusing on my water intake. That step in itself was an up and down attempt. I will continue to focus on that objective while I get my nerve up to try the GM/MM plan. Daily brushing is one of the wonderful habits that I have also developed. It helps me start the day feeling alive and refreshed - even at 5:30 in the morning.

So here I am, sending in my pictures and writing my long drawn out narrative. Just a few days ago, I thought there was no need in sending in my final results. Were they spectacular? No, but they were results and a solid foundation on which I can continue to build on one "butt tuck" at a time.
