I want to thank you for inviting me to give my story. I was so excited when I read your email that I jumped out of my chair and rushed and told my husband.
I, like some of the current T-Tappers, first read about Teresa in the 2001 Women's World magazine. I sort of remember going to the website, but it must not have been the right time for me. I have tried all kinds of diets, and machines. And nothing really worked for me. I felt hungry, and tired. I do enjoy walking, and would walk for awhile and stop. Life as a working woman, taking care of a husband and child is a lot of work in itself. So, there was little time for me to take care of me.
Then, watching the commercials for Nutrisystems glycemic way eating, I thought there has to be some information on low GI eating on the internet. So, I did some research and found what I was looking for. Started that and lost some weight. I cooked my meals according to the American Heart Association. I picked up one of their cookbooks. But, half of my meals met some enthusiasm. So, what happens next? You go back to what was before. And I gained all my weight back and then some. Now, I'm heavier then I was before. I joined a gym for 2 years and ended up going only 6-7 months. Do you think the gym missed me? No!!! They had my money and that is all they wanted.
I started walking in my neighborhood, at night. Didn't like that so I stopped. Time goes by and one day one of my coworkers says that we need to all band together and lose weight. Well, I was all over that and said we needed to do a contract. So, I typed up a contract that we all signed. We weigh in every other Monday. I started walking again at different parks, or the local college.
Then, grocery shopping one day I'm looking at the women's health/exercise magazines and I see Teresa Tapp on the cover of Women's Fitness wrapped in plastic. I pick it up and one other magazine and watch her free "Yes, You Can!" seminar. From my past research in the low GI eating and other research on the body, what she was saying made so much sense to me. I was doing the exercises she had the audience doing and feeling the difference in her exercises. Now, I have other exercise videos that I have used for a while and have lost interest, So, I watched the DVD several times. I looked on the website and read a lot of the stories listed. Looked at the products. The closest trainer to me resides in Houston. I do go to Houston on occasion and can hook up with her. So, I order the complete deal. The CRT system, the Beginner's workout, the Instructionals.
I get a coworker one day after work to take measurements. Now, I have been T-Tapping for one day when I had the measurements taken.
I start exercising and work up a sweat. I go through the Instructionals pretty fast and work my way to the Beg/Rehab TWO. I did that workout one morning and the next day, I was sore! Only on the tops of my legs from the knee to the hip. My right side was the worse!! So, I go back to BWO+. Then work back to the TWO after a day or two. And have been doing that workout ever since. Took measurements again a month later and found that I have lost 19.25 inches!!! I was excited to say the least!!!
I usually get up at 5am. In order for me to do the TWO, I now get up 10 minutes to 5. I change into workout clothes, feed the cats, get my water bottle ready & get my socks & shoes on and start. I'm a member of the Habit Formers, so I check in after my workout and get started on my day. I feel like I can tackle the day I'm so energized!! I go to work in a better mood. I'm losing more weight than my friends at work. A couple of them are gym members and one has a trainer. She feels beat up after working out with her trainer. I just smile and laugh on the inside, because I do not with mine!! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm dripping with sweat, breathing hard and feel like I need a rest, but that is only temporary. After my heart rate is normal, I'm energized and ready to go!! Their counting calories, I'm not. I'm losing weight; they are not losing as much as I am.
Now, I'm not knocking the trainers. That is their job to work out their clients.
I'm looking into getting certified as a personal trainer and nutrition/wellness advisor after I'm back from our dental meeting. Then, after I am certified, I would like to look into becoming a T-Tapp Trainer and bring this wonderful way of exercising to my hometown and help others lose weight.
Everyone who knows me has noticed that I have lost weight and they ask, and I tell and show. I'll do Hoe Downs in front of them. The place where I go to get my massages has read my copy of the magazine featuring Teresa and they seem excited.
I enjoy my workouts and can see myself doing this forever!! I tell people that Teresa is my new best friend and I have not even met her!!
Thank you again!
Jean
