60 Day Challenge
Winner: More to Lose Category

Nora Brown

I have not experienced much physical change. My changes have been more internal!

I have been struggling with so many personal battles for the past 2 years. Every time I began to gain some ground, something else would pull the rug from beneath me. Sometimes it was physical like when my back went out and I was unable to do much of anything for 5-6 months. Other times it has been stress and heartache as when my just turned 18 year old, senior in high school son ran away from home. Then there was my husband's business almost going under and the two of us taking on 2 jobs each, plus my trying to home school my 2 children still home.

I tend to self-medicate with foods that make me sleepy and relaxed when under stress, pressure or feeling depressed. Rarely do I do that any more. Also when stressed and depressed, I found it almost impossible to exercise. I just had no energy.

The contest helped me make a commitment to myself and my family became wonderful cheerleaders. My husband would remind me to do my PBS twice a day. My boys would encourage me to workout. But more than that, we began exercising together as a family, bike riding and walking almost every day. I'm feeling so much more optimistic and positive...like my old self again. During the past 2 months, I have encountered some bumps along the way, but the exercise has remained constant. I have done a minimum of Basic+ three-five times a week and other moves throughout my day. Biking has become a morning routine with a walk in the evening.

I've been doing the South Beach Diet or God Made/Man Made since February and have lost nothing. I just keep bouncing back and forth within 5 lbs. But my body does seem to be shifting now with more regular exercise. What was hanging is beginning to move upward and clothes are fitting differently even if they are still the same size.

I may not be your biggest loser, but I'm so glad to be feeling like the Nora I used to be. Exercise has become a positive way to handle the bumps in my life. I feel stronger, physically and mentally than I have in 2 years. Thanks for the contest! Without it, I would still be struggling along rather than making exercise part of my daily plan.
