Heather Mortenson
Santa Rosa, CA
Certified T-Tapp Trainer
hm@t-tapp.com

Hello! I am Heather Mortenson, massage therapist, skin specialist and now T-Tapp Trainer! I am 44 years old, married, no children, and have lived in Safety Harbor, FL for 9 years now. I am from Washington state, 25 years, also California, 7 years.

I’ve always “burned the candle at both ends” as they say. I’ve had a diverse life that is way too long winded to go into …so I will start at what changed my life most recently—a terrible car accident my husband and I were in 6 years ago. My pelvis was fractured in 6 places (I could not walk or even move my legs) and a head injury affecting my left eye. I was in the hospital for nearly a month, rehab for 3 weeks of that. They said I'd walk in 6 months. I walked in 3 months! First in a wheel chair, then a walker. I went back to work (massage therapy) part time! (Now, looking back, probably too soon.) Everything seemed fine. My husband was ok by the way…head injury and 20 stitches but better than I, thank God.

I was extremely thankful I could walk and be normal, but my energy level did not keep up with me. I was at a standstill at “part-time”. I was exhausted, fatigued and weak by 3pm or 5pm every day! I got plantar fasciitis in both feet. I got cramps inmy legs. I had inflammation and bad PMS (which I always had, but it was worse). And just such fatigue and exhaustion—I’ve never felt this way! I am a health nut so I did everything I could think of, organic foods, vitamins, exercise, massage, acupuncture and chiropractic. This all helped. Mostly I really noticed I could not exercise like I use to. (In the past I exercised on a regular basis. I went through all the fads: at least an hour a day of either high impact aerobics, low impact aerobics, step aerobics, weight lifting, yoga or Pilates.) Now, I’d have a few good days followed by bad days. I got dizzy on the treadmill. I couldn’t workout for the normal hour! I got very sore very easily. Step aerobics, Zumba, Pilates, I tried all the conventional workouts—I ended up giving up! Eventually, I started very slowly just doing a few minutes of Pilates and also walking. I didn’t workout much.

Then I was introduced to T-Tapp. I read the book first. It took me a while to get “into it” but my interest was soon piqued—and I finished the book pronto—in one weekend! So much of the T-Tapp theory was right on track with my own! But, so, so much more! I immediately bought the Basic Workout Plus—I figured, at my new slow speed, that that would be just right for me. Also, since it was just 15 to 20 minutes in length there was no excuse not to workout! It definitely helped me. I had less soreness from my job.

I started doing Ladybug and Hit the Floor. Wow. Those kicked my @#%! I decided I wanted to teach this extraordinary exercise program. I had been wanting to teach for years. I always thought I'd teach ballet (and I eventually probably will) I’ve had 10 years of serious ballet training and 3 years of Jazz.

So, I got quite a few T-Tapp DVDs. Mostly I worked out using the Total Workout and Basic Plus, sometimes adding some Hit the Floor. Also, of course, signed up for Jeanne's class (she kicks @#% also!).

I lost an inch in my calves, ¾ inch above my knee (an inherited pesky fat spot for me), ½ inch in my upper thighs!! So cool! I have always had heavy legs. That was my most important area to lose and tone. Also my waist, in my old age the tummy starts bulging! Yikes! I’ve lost an inch there! The pain in my breasts is much better. My horrible PMS is a lot better. My inflammation is virtually gone. I have more energy. I feel and look much better in my clothes and I take better pictures. I have an overall more confident feeling in day to day life! I still have to work on my endurance and I still get sore easily, but I’ve made huge strides in the right healthy direction! (Also, thanks to Dr. Lisa’s family chiropractic and natural healthcare.)

I am looking forward to helping my clients. Recently I’ve noticed, when massage isn’t working as well as it should be, it’s because of muscle weakness. T-Tapp is the solution! I am excited to start testing it on everyone and I know it will work! I’ve already got some testimonies from clients who bought the DVDs, including myself! Chronic aches and pains will sometimes go away through exercise, if it has to do with muscle inactivity.

From my experience in Rehab, I understand intimately the muscle activation process. When you do a move…but can’t feel anything…its ok! Keep doing it!! The signal (brain to muscle) still goes! Then one day...Bam!  It does what it’s suppose to, and you will feel it! The more you do the move, the faster you will feel it! That’s muscle activation!
